House Speaker Paul Ryan
About a week ago, a letter-to-the-editor in the Palm Beach Post made me laugh out loud. “GOP’s shell game with Obamacare” was the title the paper slapped on.
Herewith:
“So, let’s see if I have this right. Republicans want to repeal Obamacare and replace it with something, but they don’t yet have an alternative, so they are going to vote immediately to repeal it, but not actually repeal it immediately.
“Paul Ryan says they don’t want to ‘pull the rug out’ from families who now rely on Obamacare for insurance, ‘and leave them with nothing.’
“So, apparently, Obamacare is better than nothing. But nothing is what Republicans gave those families before Obamacare.
“So, while Obamacare is not perfect, even Republicans acknowledge it is better than the nothing, which is all they ever provided.
“And now they want to take back the something and give people something else, but they don’t know what that something else will be, except that it won’t be the nothing that they gave people before.
“Am I missing something here?”
It was signed by Michael Kirshner, West Palm Beach.
My question: Why in God’s name do people vote these numbskulls into office? Hmmm. Because birds of a feather flock together?
